A very large pod of dolphins, almost certainly bottlenose dolphins were sighted just yards off Peel breakwater yesterday lunch-time. At least 50 dolphins were watched as they swam and fished along the length of Peel’s outer breakwater. The dolphins were dark, uniformly coloured and very large; they were clearly seen as they surged through the sea admidst flocks of feeding birds. They were last seen heading South, past Peel Hill going towards Niarbyl, the Big Bay and the Calf.
Thanks to John Galpin of the Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch for sharing this sighting with us.
