A lonely bottlenose dolphin was seen by the West Shoebury Buoy off Thorpe Bay, Southend in Essex on the afternoon of the 4th of February. Many thanks to Terence Hair for sending us the sightings report and excellent pictures.
A rare Cuviers Beaked Whale was found stranded at Stennigor Warbeth, in Orkney on Wednesday the 31st January. The 6.3m long whale was confirmed as male, and had been dead for at least two weeks. Thanks to Ross Flett for providing the report.
A beluga or a white whale was sighted yesterday afternoon on the 29th of Janury between Robbery Head and Lybster by Graham Garner. This all around white whale usually lives in the Arctic and sub-Arctic seas and is very rarely seen in UK waters.
