Three humpback whales were reportedly seen off Hartlepool, Durham yesterday. The animals were said to be heading north so if you are anywhere along the NE coast of England you have about four hours of daylight left to head to the seaside with your binoculars!!
Things to look out for:
- Broad bushy vertical blow 2.5-3.0m high;
- often arched roll and broad,
- distinctly-notched and irregularly-edged tail flukes (with partial white undersides) thrown into the air.
- aerial behaviour (leaping)
