Locals are still holding their breath as the group of pilot whales has remained Firth of Forth since the stranding which took place on 2nd September. Long-finned pilot whales are a deep water species and are generally encountered further offshore. As long as these animals stay so close to land, they are at a risk of stranding. The hope is that they will eventually head east out of the Forth and into open water. They were last seen yesterday evening mid channel between Culross and Grangemouth moving west towards Kincardine Bridge by John Nadin.
