A Northen Bottlenose Whale was sighted in the River Orwell on the afternoon of friday the 27th of July. Unfortunatly, after attempts to coax the 4.5 meter juvenile back into the open sea, had failed, vets agreed that putting the animal down was the most humane option. It is believed that being so far from it’s usual habitat, this, deep ocean species, would have died of starvation and dehydration. The Whale was put to sleep early on the morning of the 28th.
Thanks to Elaine Francis for informing us of the incident.
