Whether you’re looking for photographs of fin whales or fulmars look no further. The Sea Watch Foundation Photo Gallery is stocked with fantastic images of life in, on and above the oceans. Taken by a range of photographers working for or affiliated with the Sea Watch Foundation these striking pictures can be viewed through the website via the Photo Library “View Gallery” link.
Selecting a few pictures at random highlights the quality of the collection. In #1613 two short-beaked common dolphins jump from a towering, violent sea, dwarfed by the dark blue waves. #1346 sees two Northern Fulmars perched atop a cliff-edge amidst colourful lichens and coastal flowers. A polar bear stomps through #635, huffing breath visible in front of an epic Arctic backdrop.
Many of the photographs within the Gallery are perfect portraits of their depicted species, whilst others show impressive or unusual behaviours. There are approaching 2000 pictures already in the Gallery with more being added all the time. Whilst around half of these are images of cetaceans there are equally terrific photographs of seabirds, sirenians, seals, squid and many others.
The Photo Gallery can be browsed by Order, Family and Species or can be viewed as a whole. A keyword search enables quick location of desired pictures. Moving the cursor over an image shows a larger version of the thumbnail and clicking on any image brings up an enlargement alongside additional information such as the location, the species depicted and the photographer.
All of the photographs in the Gallery are available to purchase for uses in keeping with Sea Watch Foundation’s ethos. They are distributed as high-quality electronic files. For more information please read the “Purchaser’s Agreement” found in the Photo Library.
