Orca Watch 2021

May 29 - June 6

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT WILL BE SUBJECT TO WHATEVER COVID RESTRICTIONS ARE IN PLACE AT THE TIME.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THE EVENT IF WE JUDGE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO HOLD THE EVENT SUCCESSFULLY WITHIN WHATEVER RESTRCITIONS MIGHT BE IN PLACE.

Join our ten-day event in Caithness, North Sutherland, and around the Orkney and Shetland Isles to collect vital data on the occurrence of orcas utilising the Pentland Firth.

Land-watches will be organized at Duncansby Head, close to our Orca Watch base at John O’Groats, but they’ll also be land watches at many other locations in the area and around the islands.

The north coast of Scotland is one of the best places to see whales, dolphins, porpoise and many different seabird species in the UK. As well as orca, many other species of whale and dolphin can be seen from the shore including the common minke and humpback whale, Risso’s, common and white-beaked dolphins and the harbour porpoise. For the bird aficionados, sightings of razorbills, puffins, fulmars, great skuas, and terns are possible too.
