SIENA MCQUADE
PROJECT officer
Siena McQuade joined the Sea Watch team in July 2026 after volunteering
as the Research and Intern Assistant at the Bodorgan field base. As
Project Officer, Siena heads up the Caru’r Cefni project and supports
Ben Murcott (Volunteer Coordinator) with Sea Watchers Môn. Caru’r Cefni
aims to raise awareness of how rivers link to marine environments,
focusing on the Afon Cefni on Anglesey. The project will make new
contacts with communities and organisations to support biodiversity
improvements and research environmental governance models.
Siena completed an undergraduate Zoology degree and a Biosciences
Research Masters at Swansea University. She developed a particular
interest in marine movement ecology, which she pursued through her
theses and on to the Bahamas where she joined the Bimini Biological
Field Station for a shark tagging research internship. Alongside this,
Siena has worked broadly in science communication; from wildlife tour
guiding to teaching – experiences that lend themselves to the community
engagement aspect of the Caru’r Cefni project.
