Harriet Goodchild
Communications and Outreach Officer
Harriet Goodchild joined the Sea Watch team in May 2025 after volunteering with the charity for two years since 2023, first as an intern and then as Education Assistant at their New Quay Field Base. She completed her undergraduate degree at Aberystwyth University, with honours in Marine and Freshwater Biology before continuing her studies at the University of Plymouth where she obtained her Masters in Applied Marine Science. She gained a love for educating the public through extensive volunteering first with BDMLR since 2019 and Surfers Against Sewage, and then expanding this passion at Sea Watch. Her academic work has focused on the health status of cetaceans including matrilineal relationships in stranding events of long-finned pilot whales, with findings being passed to the SMASS project. Her Master thesis focused upon the use of drone imagery as a means of health assessment on body condition of bottlenose dolphins.
